The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood
This book features a novel within a novel... and yet another story within that one! In this book Iris recounts her life,
as well as the life and death of her sister Laura Chase, who is reknown for the post mortem publication of her novel, The Blind Assassin.
Interwoven through Iris' account, we read newspaper excerpts and chapters of Laura's novel. It soon becomes apparent that there are some
striking similarities between fact and fiction. But what is the true relationship between the novel and reality?

The book took me at least a month to read. It took me a while
to get into it, but when I did I looked forward to picking it up. It is not
particularly exciting or gripping nor does it send you on an emotional
rollacoaster but the characters and the 30s way of life is intriguing. The
ending left me breathless, I was dissappointed I couldn't read on.
Excellent.

I enjoyed this book. I liked the mystery of it. The narrative style is interesting, from several different viewpoints, one being the actual novel written by one of the main characters.
There are also newspaper clippings that give a flavor for the time. But all along one is left with the feeling that there is some vital information missing from the story, until the end
when it is finally revealed. Although the story is unveiled in a somewhat long and drawn out fashion, by about halfway through the book I was absorbed.
