Read and Release! Free your books...

I read about this in the newspaper today, it sounds like a fun way to get rid of some of your extra books...

The site is called

Let your book loose into the world and see where it ends up!

I think it's a great idea, I'm going to put a few of my books into circulation... and I hope others will to, so that I might find one someday!

Re: Read and Release! Free your books...

I've released one book into the wild... haven't heard back from it yet. :-)

My daughter also released one of her books when she went to her school to register, no word from it either. But we are planning to let a few more go, and are hopeful that eventually we will get responses from them someday.

Also, I check in at daily to "hunt" for books that are released ... you can see exactly where and when a book is released in your area. So i am hoping to "capture" one soon!

I've heard back from my first book!

I had kind of given up hope on this book, because it was the first one I released, but today I got this message from

Book Title: In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash
Author: Jean Shepherd

Thanks! An entertaining read for an expatriate 'Hoosier', or former resident of Indiana...I could almost see the 'skyline' of Hammond In, Garden Spot of the Midwest.
The book now goes visiting in California, to another former midwesterner.

Now I'm inspired... I think I'll release a new book this week!

Re: I've heard back from my first book!

Lucky you. I first heard about bookcrossings this summer and was excited to try it. I released 3 books and none have been found so far. I got discouraged with no results and not finding any either, but your luck makes me think maybe I will try again.

Re: I've heard back from my first book!

I didn't hear anything for 3 months after releasing it... so don't give up on the ones you've already put out there. Of course the more books you release the better the chance of return messages! I'm going to release a few more when I go on vacation next month.

Still no luck on finding any "in the wild" though. This is a little more tricky, but maybe someday....
