Looking for a proofreader to work from home

I am posting this here because I have been looking for readers in all the wrong places.

I am looking for someone to proofread transcripts from home.

Our company is based in Calgary, AB, Canada, so preferably, we are looking for someone who lives at or near there.

This is a full time position that requires above average computer savvy, extensive vocabulary skills, and the ability to learn quickly. Attention to detail and a love of perfection are definite assets

This is not a joke, nor is it a scam. I have been working here for 4 years.

If you are interested, please e-mail your resume and comments to dendana@shaw.ca

Thank you

Re: Looking for a proofreader to work from home

Forgive an obviously odd query, given your request, but why is it essential that your ideal proof reader be geographically close to you?

I am an academic, close to early retirement, who seeks a way of supplementing an already reasonable portfolio of paid activities; proof reading is something in which I excel.

One of my activities is being a virtual Tutor for international MBA students; you will agree that this involves a good deal of review and precision; that it also comprises work for a remote University and even more remote students is immaterial to the quality and promptness of my work.

If you feel that I may be of use and value to you also, please let me know - I'd like to hear from you.

Hello.

I have just seen your advertisement for a proofreader.

I passed my Regent Academy proofreading diploma (with Merit)in 2003 but have been proofreading as part of my daily working life for the last ten years, (as a civil servant for the Ministry of Defence for the past five years of that).

However I injured my back two years ago so am pretty much housebound for the time being and am trying to find some proofreading work that I can do at home.

I am a British national but if you would be happy to have the work done via E-mail or online I would be willing to give it a try.

Sincere regards.

Re: Looking for a proofreader to work from home

I currently (4-15-08) am seeking employment as a proofreader. However, I would like to gain more experience and to do this, I will take 3 projects for free.

I am a member of Distributed Proofreaders and am studying for my proofreading certification.
I also have a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Psychology.
In exchange, I ask for acknowledgement in writing as having proofed the project.

Thank You,
Faith Carroll

Hi!!

I have been working as a medical transcriptionist for the past 7+ years. I would ideally be suited for proofreading work and while surfing the net, encountered your requirement for proofreaders to work from home. By the way, I am from India. I would like to know more about your requirement for proofreaders. Kindly get in touch with me if the openings are still on.

Thanks and regards,

Re: Looking for a proofreader to work from home

This opportunity is interesting. I am a registered nurse, have experience reviewing/editing medical submissions and have a "knack" for recognizing errors that include grammar, spelling, typographic, syntax, logical nuance, etc. It has become a game at times, when I am bored. I did not read all of these e-mail streams, but several items jumped out: e.g., "grammer"; "elementary"; "sometype" (which is not a word). I would like to discuss this further. Thank you.

Re: Looking for a proofreader to work from home

I have graduated college with a diploma in publishing and a diploma in proofreading/editing. I have a passion for the written word, something about taken an idea or though and transforming that into a manuscript is something that appeals to me. I do this kind of work for fun, I pick up the newspaper, magazine or book and practice my proofreading all the time. If you can find someone who is not onliy qualified but likes the work so much they do it for enjoyment. I believe that this is the person that is right for you. If you have any questions or would like to see my CV you can email me at: asacony@gmail.com
