Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

This is an inquiry about a code listed in 'Deception Point' by Dan Brown. Anyone help?

Anyone out there taken a look at the last page of Deception Point by Dan Brown?

There's a one line encrypted code there, with no description. I assume it's a carry-over from one of his previous books "Digital Fortress" however, I still would like to crack this code. Has anyone done so already? Give me a clue perhaps?

Thanks,
Bob

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

It is a code, correct. If you've cracked the one in Digital Fortress then you already know how to crack this one.

If you've not cracked that one, the I suggest that you look for ways within Digital Fortress to convert the numbers to letters, and then decrypt the code.

Everything that you need to know is in Digital Fortress. :)

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

Yes. If you have not gotten it already, using the numbers, grab the first letter from the corresponding chapter. Letters actually represent letters and nothing more (V = V). Stack in a 5x5 grid going left to right, top to bottom like in DF (I assume as I have not read it, but picked up code hints from the web). You get something advertising a later novel. Kind o' cheap plublicity if you ask me...

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

Keep in mind that you will need a copy of the book with you to crack the code.

by Ethan on Tuesday January 20, @09:58PM

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

Would you mind explaining to me what the code is? I read DF and figured it out, but for some reason I just cant crack this one.
Thanks.

4x4 "Caesar code" box. First letter from each chapter #. A lesson you should learn from the DanBrown web site under secrets / bizarre facts

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

Not really the same as Digital Fortress. Notice that there are letters in this string of code. A few "Ls" a "V" and a "U". I figured it out but it isn't as it looks.

Thank you. I just fininshed the book & that was the first thing I noticed, the last page, and have just started searching. If I find anything will forward.

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

It's much more simpel!!!!

write the letters in a box, not horizontally but vertically!!!

W W W D O
T R O B E
R T L A N
G D O N D
O T C O M

do you see it now??

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

tip:

read it horizontally!

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

Wait...I'm confused. THere was a code in DIgital Fortress that read "Were Watching You" and there was a code in Deceotion Point that read "The Davinci Code Will Surface." That makes 2 codes 9unless i got a different verion of Angels and Demons). Where'd you get that code?

by ConfusedGuy on Tuesday July 27, @03:15PM

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

It is as easy as the digital fortres and davinci code, code.
You just have to use the first letter of each of the chapters indicated by the numbers and arrange all these letters in a square(5 letter lines) and finally read it vertically.
If you still cant figure it out, mail me.

i just finished the book and i had the same question as you.i really don t know what it means but i m going to try to find out and as soon as i have an answer i ll let you know.could it be a word or some sort of coordinates, or a referance to a book?

by maria on Monday September 20, @02:21PM

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

these numbers display chapters.you find the first letter of the chapter in the order he gives you and with the use of the ceasar's box you find a phrase which is actually not that important today, as we already know what he tells us.hope u find it, if u haven t done it already!

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

the "caesar box" that says WWWDOTROBERTLANGDONDOTCOM is for the davinci code challenge on the author's web site, if you're wondering where this code came from. ;)

by eman on Thursday November 04, @05:57PM

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

So is the answer all three perhaps? This is just crazy. I think it is 'We Are Watching You' because it fits the context of the book. Still insane that one can get all of these possibilities.

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

fun fun... Deception Point - THE DAVINCI CODE WILL SURFACE - fair enough
Digital Fortress - WE ARE WATCHING YOU - that makes sense.

by Alexander Lee on Saturday November 13, @05:47PM

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

The whole point is that the code has multiple solutions as in the Da Vinci Code.

ALL the answers are correct

1. The Da Vinci Code will surface
2. We are watching you
3. WWW(dot)robertlangdon(dot com)

In Deception Point, the code is "The Da Vinci Code Will Surface"

And if you go to his website, there's a code waiting for you to break as well. And the answer is "WWW Dot Dan Brown Dot Com"

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

128-10-93-85-10-128-98-112-6-6-25-126-39-1-68-78 is the code from Digital Fortress, not the one from Deception Point, many seem to be confused. The WWW one is not from the books, as you seem to have worked out.

Just finished reading Deception Point. Know of any upcoming novels by the man?

There is a pair of codes on the Dan Brown site which I'm sure you should be able to find pretty easily. They are
YAOROVSEUEETHNCS (YOU HAVE NO SECRETS)

and RehoatebeenoaoNstrdoSnyetkAtoahtdwud
(Read the book the NSA doesn't want you to read)

the lengths are of course perfect squares, 4x4 and 6x6 respectively.

Any more codes like these that anyone's found?

Ok when breaking the code and getting "the da vinci code will surface" you are reading/have read DECEPTION POINT

when breaking the code and getting "We are watching you" you are readin (well have read) DIGITAL FORTRESS

There's no code on my copy of Angels and Demons, can't remember the Da Vinci Code one cause a friend stole my book, I think there is a code though?

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

dan brown has writtern 4 books the da vinci code, deception point, digital fortress and angels and demons digital fortress has a code at the back which each number refers to the first letter in a chapter (128- first letter in chapter 128-w) when you have found all of the letters it will still look like jibberish. put it in a ceaser box. ie the letters can be written in a perfect square(5x5 or 4x4 etc) write it out and then read horizontally and you will find it says 'we are watching you'
deception points code can be found in the same way though some letters are given this one will read 'the da vinci code will surface'
on dan browns website there are two codes in cryptogrophy 101 which are also ceaser boxes the first reads 'you have no secrets' the second says 'read the book the nsa doesnt want you to read'
the dan brown website also has two challenges one of these is also a ceaser box and reads 'wwwdotrobertlangdondotcom' ie www.robertlangdodn.com
there is also a code on the di vinci code cover of the original print at the bottom by the barcode there is a circle of numbers with 3 pyramids this is the same as the code from digital fortress and deception point but this one is not in english it is latin and the pyramid marks a new word this reads 'E pluribus unum' which is on the 1 dollar bill and a referance to the freemasons and the illuminati.
there is also one more code next to the fourth review on the orriginal version which is cordinates they are '37 degrees 57 minutes and 6.5 seconds north' and ' 77 degrees 8 minutes and 44 seconds west' this is part of one of the challenges on his web site you also need to go 1 more degree north which will take you to the cia headquaters and a staue called kryptos which is the greek for hidden it is the most famous unsolved code in history.
there is a film coming and robert langdon will be played by tom hanks due to come out in 2006

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

Wow! I literally finished the book an hour ago and saw the string of numbers at the end. Hey Ho ... another one of Dan's Codes :o)

I wasn't sure though because I'd mistakenly counted 24 numbers and letters (which can't make a Caeser's Box) So did a Google for Deception + Point + Code and came up with this site. Wicked!

Luckily I only read the first couple of posts before people started giving out the answer and so was able to work it out for myself.

Apparently they will be filming some of DVC at Winchester - just down the road for me - Will see if I can get a close up of Tom Hanks :oP

I've completed all the codes now ... let's hope his next book is packed full of them ;o)

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

Robert Langdon is the lead _character_ from Dan Browns book "Angels and Demons"

But I dont see why he would even be allowed to print the coded phrase www.robertlangdon.com when it leads to a non-fictional persons website, unless he has some connection with producing the book.

by Jim on Saturday August 27, @03:52PM

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

www.robertlangdon.com is the website for the character from The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons. Unless Dan Brown took the name Robert Langdon from an actual Harvard Symbologist (which would completely negate the statment of ficticious work at the beginning) this website was made to go along with the books.

by T on Monday September 05, @11:02PM

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

Boy, it's a shame that none of this even matters because Dan Brown is obviously self-centered enough to think that everybody in the world cares about the Da Vinci Code. And it's a shame that he's an awkward writer that has to use italics to convey to the reader that a character is thinking.

Who cares if "the davinci code will resurface?"

dan brown.
that's who cares.

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

There most likely is a code somewhere but the real story may never be known. The churches have hidden the truth from us for so long that I doubt we can be totally sure of anything. I do not want to be a part of any type of reglion that would condon the burning of "witches". How many lies has the church told? No one will ever know for sure. As long as we continue to place so much value in any religion which says that we can never be as perfect as Jesus or any other religious figure we will continue to destroy our world. How many people have to die in religious wars before people wake up? Are the people of this generation as gullable as those who lived over 1,000 years ago? It's time to wake up and have the courage to ask the questions that would have saved hundreds of thousands of lives. My hat goes off to Mr. Brown for having the courage to make us ask those very questions.

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

you take first letter of the chapter no indicated in the code in the same order. i.e. if the code is 75-6-89-125, take first letter from chapters 75,6,89,125 in the same order. you will get a 25 letter line. you arrange this in a grid of 5x5. read from top to bottom column wise. yo wil break the code.

How it works

First off, the code first appears in digital fortress. It is called ceasers box. to do it in digital fortress, you must look at the numbers in the back of the book. each number represents a chapter number, same for deception point. then, you go to that chapter and look at the first letter of the chapter. write down each letter top to bottom. (its 4x4 in digital fortress, and 5x5 in deception point.)also, in deception point, there are letters, instead of numbers. all that means is you have to add in that letter, you do not need to go to a chapter, or do anything weird with that letter.

in digital fortress

it ends up being

W E C G
E W H Y
A A I O
R T N U

now you re-write that reading top to bottom
wearewatchingyou
then add in spaces
we are watching you

and thats the code for that book

in deception point

it ends up being

t v c i r
h i o l f
e n d l a
d c e s c
a i w u e

now you re-write that reading top to bottom and get
thedavincicodewillsurface

then add spaces

the da vinci code will surface

and thats that code

got it?

Re: Deception Point - Dan Brown - Code Crack?

Wow, people have explained this really badly.

There are three answers because there are three codes. Each code translates to one single solution.

One code is at the end of Digital Fortress. Solved, it reads We Are Watching You. There's also a code at the back of Deception Point - solved, this one reads The Davinci Code Will Surface. The third code is on Dan Brown's personal website. Solved, this one reads www.robertlangdon.com - for those who haven't read the books, Robert Langdon is a character featuring in two of Dan Brown's books.

The solution for all three codes use a caesar's square. Write the letters or numbers in a grid of dimensions equal to the square root of the total number of numbers or letters in the code. The one on the site needs no further decryption, just read the letters vertically. The other two require further decryption - replace each number with the first letter of the first one in the chapter of the same number, then again, read the resulting letters vertically.
