Reading Group Suggestion - Homer Hickam

We'd like to suggest a Homer Hickam book for your reading groups. Since people seem to enjoy books about people, all of Homer's books would do. Homer is best known for his memoir Rocket Boys (also known as October Sky) which was a #1 New York Times best-seller. Please don't be turned off by its title. Believe me, women love it as much as men. In fact, it is the most picked book for City Reads across the country. It is also studied in over 400 schools and has been translated into eight languages. For more of Homer's more recent work, we suggest The Keeper's Son, set on the magnificent Outer Banks of North Carolina during World War II. We think you will love the people of Killakeet and the romance (and lust) between Josh and Dosie. "Keeper's," was a national best-seller and Homer was asked to continue the novel into a series. The next one is "The Ambassador's Son" which takes place in the Solomon Islands of the South Pacific and features as characters young Jack Kennedy, Richard Nixon, and a man who also wrote a little: James Michener. "Ambassador's" will be out in March. Discover Homer Hickam books and I think you'll come to love him as one of your favorite writers. Best wishes and happy reading.
