Small Island by Andrea Levy

Small Island by Andrea Levy

Review:
Book club for October, all agreed this was a most entertaining and well-written book, about the influx of people of colour to England after the 2nd World War, and the prejudice that awaited them. The Jamaican couple, Gilbert and Hortense, had all the best lines and were by far the most interesting. Levy's capture of the rhythm of the Jamaican dialect sounds very authentic, her stories of human nature very true. Apparently her previous books are very good also. ---Sharron D.
