Re: Memoirs of a Geisha
The author wasnt hinting that she had a son. Because of the scandal of the popular buisnessman who passed his business to the son he had with his mistress (geisha)instead of his son with his wife, the man who was to be adopted and take over the chairman's business backed out. It was well known the Chairman had a mistress, so the guy was thinking there was a chance he would marry the chairmans daughter and then not get the business. She said that the chairman was angry all the time after this occured. So she made the point that if she were to move to another country she would take whatever kids she might have had. Giving the public the impression that if she had had children they would go with her and not return. SO then the almost adopted son would have no doubt of taking over the business and would go through with the marriage. Do you get it now? She did it for the chairman.
