how to run program after IP address change (ADSL)
by Vlad on Monday April 10, @09:05AM
Hi, Does anybody knows how to run a program after a dinamic IP address change on an ADSL connection? do I need to do it at all? I just configured a freeBSD firewall and want to know if I need to rerun firewall script after an IP address change (I guess I should) and, if yes, how to do it. I'm sorry if it's a dumb question. I'm new to freeBSD.

    You do not need to do anything with a dynamic ip change if you have the ppp.conf setup as shown.
    # adds a default route to the ip isp gives you
    add default HISADDR

    in your rc.conf
    ifconfig_x10="media 10BaseT/UTP mtu 1492"

    I need those settings for mine with bellsouth, your may vary slightly. Remember xl0 is my nic identifier yours may be different.
    Sincerely,
    Brendhan
