If you would like to search the ports tree for a specific application, or a general group of applications, try the make search command. cd /usr/ports make search key=some_application_name examples: make search key=netscape | more make search key=browser | more (hint: pipe the output into the more command, otherwise it may scroll off the screen) < | >
