Posted by Jason on Monday June 18, @10:37PMfrom the zoned-out dept. If you did not set your timezone information during install, you can easily go back and set it later. [Setting your Timezone] In order to configure your timezone, you must first login as root: Login: root Password: ******** Next, you will run the sysinstall utility and configure your timezone. Here's how: Type: /stand/sysinstall Select Configure Select Time Zone Next, you will be presented with the following message: "Is this machines CMOS clock set to UTC? If it is set to local time, or you don't know, please choose NO here!" I have always chosen NO at this prompt. Finally, follow the menu's to select the appropriate timezone. When you're done, exit from sysinstall and your done. If you would like to verify that your timezone has been correctly set, issue the date command $ date Wed Mar 28 20:55:47 AKST 2001 Notice the time is shown as a 24 hour clock- 20:55 is 8:55PM, in the USA this is known as military time. Also notice the timezone info, in my case AKST (Alaska Standard Time -9 GMT). < | >
